Forty Years of Disconnection

The mental ill health and emotional sickness epidemic in the UK is directly linked to the above moment. Baby Boomers and Generation X who are the (Great) Grandparents and (Grand) Parents of the Millennials and Generation Z that are going down like nine pins with anxiety, depression, poor self image and eating disorders have carried forward in their DNA a trauma that was hot housed by Thatcher. There was a Post Second World War collective trauma in the UK where Macmillan told our ancestors that they had never had it so good. He was telling a generation of men predominantly who had returned from the killing fields of Europe. He was telling traumatised men of war that they had never had it so good. That was true purely because Attlee and Nye Bevan had introduced the Welfare State and the National Health Service  between 1945 and 51 and the Conservatives were taking credit for it in 1957.
The only purely Socialist administration that the UK has ever experienced and we need another one to cleanse us.
We need a Corbyn and McDonnell led government to wave the sage and implement a revolutionary administration where the emphasis will be on community, collective living, pumping money into the Welfare State and National Health Service. Tax the High Earners and isolate the 'Pull yourself up by the bootstraps' brigade in their own gated communities so that they perish in their own disconnected grandiosity.
Our collective 'Mental Health has been broken by a succession of Conservative and Right Wing Governments.
We have been oppressed, suppressed and repressed as a people. We are the direct descendants of the Victorians with their sexual hypocrisy and lunatic asylums. My God, they could build some tunnels and trains though. A metaphor for fucking us all up.

 This Be The Verse
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

From the Yuppies of the Kings Road to the Yachts of Sir Philip Green. From the media pariahs of Maxwell and Murdoch feeding off the miseries of the ordinary man and woman. Gated communities to Gas Guzzlers but their days are numbered. Extinction Rebellion have come to save us from the grips of the Right Wing Populists because right wing conservative thinking will always morph, chameleon like into something else as we saw with Tony Blair's New Labour Project. Greta Thunberg and Extinction Rebellion are the answer to our forty year disconnection. I could only look on with envy as the bridges and transport hubs of London were occupied as St Paul's Catherdal had been occupied previously in 2011 and 2012. Always the bridesmaid never the bride. At this rate I will be like 83 year old Phil Kingston before I see any protest action. What a great man, a former parole officer who realizes that the only way to stop the growth of the Capitalist Cancer Cell is to Protest and Survive.
That is the problem with the 'British'. We have been too compliant, too cowed by authority and ready to accept the status quo but at what cost to our mental health and most importantly our descendants' mental health.
