Dear God, Allah, the Boss

Dear God, Allah, the Boss

They say that you are the ‘Creator’ but you didn’t create this world for us to trash it. They say a lot of things and very often you don’t know what to believe. I know people who think that Climate Change is a hoax. They are the same people who wouldn’t take the vaccine. The same people who voted for Brexit. They wanted to leave the European Union in the same way that we will leave the planet if these fires and floods carry on, in a blaze of in glory. I’m sure that you are worried also, considering that you played a big part in creating us, you and Charles Darwin and the Dinosaurs of course.

Those two hot days we had recently? They could turn into two weeks next year and two months the following year if we are still here. One person I know, says that the earth is getting bombarded by cosmic rays on the daily and it is this that is shifting the earth ‘outta whack’. He claims that it is nothing to do with CO2 and Greenhouse Gases. I nod my head because he is a Physicist.

I think that the human race should cool it anyway. Even if we are not upsetting the natural eco system with our greed and avarice it wouldn’t be a bad thing to change the way that we live. Instead of 'Obey, Conform, Consume' we could just try and co-operate instead of competing.

I hope that it’s not too late but I suppose that we’ve had a good run: Two thousand and twenty two years it has taken us to mess it up but I think it sped up after the Industrial Revolution. When we found out that we could pollute the seas and the air with little short term consequence, then we did. We took the path of least resistance but now the long term consequences are washing up on the shore and knocking on our collective door.

I’m off to post this letter now to you, God, Allah, the Boss and I hope that it finds you in good spirits and not distraught about what we in your image have done to the blue planet.

Yours Sincerely

Dafydd Williams on behalf of ‘The Climate Letters’
