On the futility of
war and the sickness of light entertainment!
An adaptation of
The "Ode
of Remembrance" is an ode taken from Laurence
Binyon's poem "For the Fallen", which was first published
in The Times
in September 1914.
They went with songs to the battle,
they were young.
Oh turn the telly on! It will be on
soon!
Straight of limb, true of eyes,
steady and aglow.
Who will be voted off tonight!
They were staunch to the end against
odds uncounted,
The Opium of the Masses
They fell with their faces to the
foe.
Stop making me feel guilty! It's not my fault!
They shall grow not old, as we that
are left grow old:
Look give me a break,
Age shall not weary them, nor the
years condemn.
Sssh! Simon Cowell is talking!
At the going down of the sun and in
the morning,
We will remember them.
Until X Factor and Strictly Come
Dancing are on.....
and then we’ll forget you for a bit!
